Lisbon, 07 November 2022 – Emma -The Sleep Company plans to hire around 200 new employees in Portugal by the end of 2024, which will make Lisbon the company’s largest talent hub worldwide, surpassing Frankfurt. The announcement was made by Dennis Schmoltzi, Co-Founder and CEO of Emma, during Web Summit 2022, also revealing that the leading sleep brand worldwide will soon have its own new office in the Portuguese capital, where it currently already employs more than 240 people.

“Portugal has a market full of entrepreneurial profiles. Over the past year and a half, we realized that we could find great talent in all areas, from Operations to IT and Marketing. In addition to an impressive amount of local talent, Lisbon is an attractive city for talent all around the world to relocate to,” explained Schmoltzi, underlining the type of profile that combines with Emma’s DNA: “For those who are focused on rapid learning and development, want to make an impact in a highly entrepreneurial environment, and want to work personally with like-minded and inspiring people, we are the perfect match.”

“We are finalizing plans for our new office in Lisbon, which will soon be our largest in terms of personnel. It will be a space that enables us to continue growing and provide the best working conditions to all Emmies. We expect to grow to 350 in Lisbon by the end of 2023 and around 450 by the end of 2024,” revealed Schmoltzi. While Lisbon will become Emma’s biggest talent hub, the company will maintain its offices in Frankfurt, Manila, Mexico City, Shanghai, and Bucharest.

In Q3 Emma -The Sleep Company continued its impressive expansion story by recording €211 million in revenue, which makes a year-to-date total of €595 million, a growth rate of 36% compared with the €436 million recorded in the same period of the previous year. These results allow a forecast of annual revenues of over €800 million, which will represent the fifth consecutive financial year of profitability and growth for the company.

“The third quarter was even better than we expected, so the outlook for our performance in 2022 could not be more encouraging. Despite this challenging economic climate, where volume in our sector has fallen by around 30% in many countries, we continue to counter-cycle, break records, expand our portfolio, and refine our business model,” says Manuel Muller, Co-Founder and CEO of Emma – The Sleep Company.

Globally, Emma has over 850 employees, from over 65 different nationalities, determined to take the sleep industry to a new level of excellence.
